Hand washing
Procedure
Washing your hands to remove germs is an important step in preventing infection. Dirty hands are one of the most common ways to spread infection. Remember: Always wash your hands before handling equipment or doing any procedures.
1. Remove your rings before washing hands. Germs can hide in and around these items. |
4. Rinse your hands. |
2. Turn on the water and leave it running. Apply antibacterial soap to your hands and scrub vigorously. Start at your finger-tips, scrubbing under finger nails and between each finger. |
5. Thoroughly dry your hands with a paper towel. |
3. Scrub your inner palms and back of hands last. |
6. Use a paper towel to turn off the water, then discard it in the trash. |
